It is an old Dutch saying, but a fact: “A day without laughter is a day not lived”.
Humor is very personal, every person has their own taste.
For me, humor is in a small moment. Sometimes the humor is ‘on the street’.
Laughter is so healthy, has positive effects on both the body and our mind.
What more could a person want? Laughter costs nothing and it is free.
Speaking of laughing. Everyone has a blooper now and then.
Recently I had my grocery round, past the farmer, the butcher and the toko.
First to the farmer, for potatoes and then to the market for fruit.
On this early morning I walked with a large paper bag of fruit towards my car.
It was quite a walk to the parking lot. The fruit bag felt increasingly heavy in weight.
Because of the rush I had not divided the fruit into 2 separate bags. My own fault, tough luck.
Anyway, at least good for the arm muscles.
I enjoyed the short walk with the sun on my face.
On the way I almost bumped into an old acquaintance. I hadn't seen Jaap for quite some time.
At that moment the heavy bag of fruit tore and everything fell onto the street.
That was a strange entrance. I thought to myself "oh oh that's typical JEN".
Jaap's reaction was hilarious.
We spontaneously laughed so much about the fragment recording, my day couldn't have been better.
Jaap still had his shopping bag empty and I was allowed to keep this bag.
Stomach aching from laughing, we picked up the fruit that had fallen together.
Some of the fruit was still dangling in the paper bag. Most of it still looked good.
He helped me carry the bag of fruit to the car. A real gentleman.
We greeted each other happily chatting about this and that.
It's always nice to meet people who are open and cheerful in life.
A friendly face opens many hearts.
When we got home, we put away the groceries. I put the whole fruit in a cool place near the kitchen for later.
I can do something with the few bruised pieces of fruit, JEN style.
I cut these into pieces and put them in the blender.
Add full-fat yoghurt with cornflakes and the blender on a low setting, then turn it up a notch.
Finally, I add a teaspoon of honey and orange segments and it's done.
A delicious TOETIEFRUIT, tastes like an extra bonus. So delicious!
